Incoming Mail
All faculty and staff USPS mail is delivered to one central location for Vanderbilt University addresses and that is Station B Post Office located in Rand Hall. This is the location for all student and department virtual mailboxes, the main campus post office, package pick-up window, and mail only pick-up window.
Faculty and staff may pick up mail and packages daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from the mail only pick-up window. You do not need to wait in the package line, simply come to the mail only pick-up window.
We receive deliveries from USPS three times daily: 6:30 a.m. for first-class mail, 9:00 a.m. for USPS Express Mail, and noon for certified, registered, insured, signature, and delivery confirmation mail.
We post USPS mail to departmental virtual mailboxes as it arrives daily for Station B box holders.
Delivery: USPS mail is sorted daily as it comes in; however, if your delivery driver has begun his/her morning route and mail is still being processed, this mail may be delivered on the next business day. You may send someone from your department to pick up mail/packages if it can not wait until the next business day.
USPS mail for Peabody addresses is delivered by the USPS one time daily at 8:00 a.m. to the satellite office in The Commons Center; this is mail for the departments of Peabody College and graduate students only. USPS mail is sorted to Peabody mailboxes daily upon its delivery.
*NOTE — We sort mail by the PMB number only and not by name, department, building, or room number. Failure to list the correct PMB number may result in delays or misdirection of your mail. Envelopes lacking a PMB number are put aside for later research and will result in delivery delays. Properly addressed mail is delivered to your department/mailbox within a 24-hour period or next business day of receiving it.
