Addressing US Mail to University Departments
The format of your campus address depends upon where your mail is sent. Deviations from this format will result in delayed processing of US mail. To find out your department’s PMB number, check the PMB & Locator Code page or Contact Station B at 322-2934.

If Your Department Receives Direct Mail Deliveries from USPS daily:
A few departments receive deliveries to their physical locations, directly from USPS. For mail that you receive directly from the United States Postal Service, you do not have to change your current mailing address format or zip code.

Addressing Overnight Deliveries to University Departments
Overnight Deliveries from UPS, FedEx, DHL (not USPS*)
If you want your packages delivered in the same way that your incoming mail is delivered:
That is, to Rand Hall Station B, the Peabody post office, or to your department if you receive Mail Services deliveries – simply use the same mailing address that you use for your USPS mail. That is, use your PMB number.
If you want the carrier to deliver directly to your suite, office or building
You must provide your physical street address, rather than the PMB box number. Note that you also must use the correct zip code for your street address. If you use the zip code of the Station B post office (37235), the package will be delivered to Station B. You may look up the zip code for your physical street address atzip4.usps.com/zip4/.

Addressing FAQs
What does PMB mean? Why can’t I use “PO Box” numbers? PMB stands for private mail box. The United States Postal Service reserves “PO Box” for the boxes located at USPS post offices. USPS has asked all owners of private boxes to use the PMB designation in order to avoid confusion.

What if My Department doesn’t have a PMB Number? If your department does not have a PMB number, please contact the Rand Hall Post Office at 322-2934.
