In this unit, students in the primary grades raise different kinds of flowering bulbs, and keep records of change over time. They observe and draw emerging plant features like leaves, buds and flowers. Children use or develop understanding of linear measure throughout this unit and determine amounts of growth over different time periods. They compare growth rates and patterns for different kinds of bulbs.
