About the Presenter:

Matt Lan is currently a 3 rd -year medical student at Vanderbilt originally from Hockessin, DE. In December 2019, he had the chance to do a Global Health course in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for one month. While there, he worked with global neurosurgery fellows as well as local neurosurgeons at Muhimibili Orthopedic Institute (MOI), observing how neurosurgical care is provided at the largest neurosurgery center in Tanzania. This research project was a continuation of a project started by a student at MOI, and it has recently been accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Matt will be applying to neurosurgery residency programs this fall and hopes to continue incorporating global neurosurgery into his future career.
