RS-OCT Detection of Choroidal Melanomas
The objective of this project is to develop a dual-modal device to identify precisely depth of the eye-layer within optical coherence tomography (OCT) image and to probe the critical biochemical signatures using Raman spectroscopy (RS). Specifically, we seek to: (1) identify biomarkers to characterize different eye layers using Raman micro-spectroscopy and (2) design and development of the dual-modal RS-OCT system to characterize various layers of the rat eye-globe. Biochemical characterization of eye-layers is being accomplished using Raman micro-spectroscopy by modifying a prior RS-OCT system (Patil et al 2011) for fast OCT imaging specifically for in vivo applications and validation of the system using known thickness tissue phantoms.
