Faculty members, the Writing Studio is here for you as a resource and a campus partner. We serve Vanderbilt’s faculty community as a resource for your students, as a resource for instructors teaching writing-intensive courses, and as readers for your own writing projects.
The partnership between faculty members and the Writing Studio is vital to our mission of helping students become increasingly more effective and independent writers and thinkers.

Bringing the Writing Studio into Your Classroom
Faculty, you can be the best and most effective advocates for Writing Studio services: Students consistently report that hearing about the Writing Studio from their professors is why they scheduled their first appointment.
We thank you for recommending Studio appointments to undergraduate and graduate students at all skill levels and for helping them connect with the resources we offer.
Resources to Share with Your Students
One of the easiest ways to let students know that you want them to make use of the Writing Studio is to include a supportive statement on your syllabus, on Brightspace, or on individual assignments. We invite you to copy the example below and paste it into your syllabus:
One-on-One Writing Support at the Writing Studio
In addition to meeting with me during office hours to discuss coursework, I strongly encourage you to take advantage of the services at the Writing Studio; getting feedback benefits writers at all skill levels. Writing Studio consultants can offer a fresh perspective on any of your writing projects. For more information and to schedule an appointment, visit vanderbilt.edu/writing.
Arrange a Visit: In-Class Workshops and Outreach
Invite a Writing Studio representative into your classroom to deliver a brief (5-10 minutes) In-Class Writing Studio introduction or to facilitate an In-Class Workshop (45 minutes) on a specific writing skill or task.
Information on workshop options and request form are available on our newly consolidated In-Class Workshops and Brief Introductions page.
