The mission of Vanderbilt University Real Estate (VURE) is to address off-campus real estate needs for Vanderbilt departments and provide for future campus growth through strategic land acquisitions. VURE aims to positively influence the quality of our campus borders for the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities through strategic investments and partnerships.
VURE manages a portfolio comprised of one million square feet of commercial and multifamily buildings. Buildings are leased to internal Vanderbilt departments for short- and long-term needs. VURE leases a significant amount of space to VUMC as well as to external parties. The multifamily portfolio provides convenient apartment rentals to faculty, students and staff as well as convenient short-term and outpatient housing in furnished units. VURE also manages the off-campus commercial leasing operations on behalf of Vanderbilt University. The University leases approximately 400,000 square feet in the Nashville area. On behalf of the University, VURE oversees the Vanderbilt Legends Club and the Holiday Inn Vanderbilt.
VURE has an active role in implementing Vanderbilt’s FutureVU land use plan. The VURE team successfully established a partnership with Balfour Beatty and Axium in Spring 2021 for the development of graduate and professional student housing. Additionally, VURE is active in seeking and acquiring parcels bordering our campus for future campus expansion.
