Student Leaders

The Spirit of Gold Marching Band has many leaderships opportunities for student members. Student leadership is divided into two branches: Section Leaders and the Executive Committee.

Spirit of Gold Section Leaders

The Spirit of Gold Section Leaders are primarily responsible for leading their sections (and the band) inside the context of rehearsals, game days, and other performances. From assisting in teaching music and marching to advocating for their sections and communicating with Spirit of Gold staff, the section leaders tend to not only be the face of their section, but the athletic bands as a whole.

Students are selected for the Section Leader positions by Athletic Bands Staff, following an application and interview process.

Spirit of Gold Executive Committee

The Spirit of Gold Executive Committee is primarily responsible for leading the band outside the context of rehearsals, game days, and other performances. From planning 'ice breaker' games during Band Camp, to organizing social events (flag football, Vanderbilt sports watch parties, etc.), the executive committee keeps their finger on the pulse of band members and strives to maintain the signature 'family atmosphere' of Spirit of Gold.

Students are elected to the Spirit of Gold Executive Committee by their peers: the current members of the Spirit of Gold Marching Band.
