Webster earns IEEE Early Career Award for his pioneering robotics work
Robert Webster, associate professor of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, otolaryngology, neurological and urologic surgery recently won the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Robotics and Automation Society Early Career Award (IEEE RAS) for 2015. This award is given to an early career researcher (within the first 7 years of their faculty career) in the field of Robotics who has “made an identifiable contributions… that have had a major impact on the robotics and/or automation fields.” He was the awarded based upon his work contributing to design, modeling, and control of novel continuously flexible robots and novel robotics applications in minimally invasive surgery.
He is the only US researcher to receive this award in 2015.
