Title:
Advancing Health Monitoring: Wearable and Implantable Bioelectronics for Cardiovascular, Sleep, and Neurological Insights
Abstract:
Advances in bioelectronic sensors are transforming health monitoring and disease detection, enabling continuous, high-fidelity data collection for medical and research applications. This talk will explore the development and application of both wearable and implantable sensor systems designed for real-time monitoring of cardiovascular health, sleep physiology, and neural activity. I will discuss multimodal sensing strategies, including ECG, SCG, PCG, and aEEG, and how these approaches enhance the detection of pathological conditions such as arrhythmias, sleep apnea, and neurological disorders. Additionally, I will highlight the challenges of sensor integration, signal processing, and edge AI for efficient data analysis. Through case studies spanning human and preclinical models, I will demonstrate the translational potential of these technologies in both clinical and research settings. By bridging engineering and medicine, these innovations pave the way for next-generation bioelectronic platforms that improve diagnosis, treatment, and human-robot interaction.
Bio:
Dr. Du is actively involved in commercializing innovative sensors she has developed and serves as an Associate Editor for the prestigious IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2025. She has an impressive publication record in top-tier journals and conferences, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RAL), ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), and IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS). Notably, her work was recognized as a finalist for the Best Paper Award in Agri-Robotics and the Best Paper Award in Robot Mechanisms and Design at IROS 2021, a distinction given to only 4 out of 1261 papers in each category. Dr. Du also has several first-authored manuscripts with impact factors exceeding 25 and 55 currently under review.
