ViSE affiliates use magnetic force to enhance laparoscopic surgery
A new surgical approach called local magnetic actuation (LMA) developed by ViSE affiliate Pietro Valdastri and graduate students Christian Di Natali and Nicolò Garbin is revolutionizing the way laparoscopic surgery is performed. LMA is described in detail in a recent article titled “Closed-Loop Control of Local Magnetic Actuation for Robotic Surgical Instruments” published recently in the journal IEEE Transactions on Robotics.
