Dr. Landman in EECS will offer two new courses that may be of interest to ViSE sudents:

1.  EECE 395 Practicum: Medical Image Processing and Visualization in Virtual Environments (2 units)

Time/location: Introductory meeting January 11, 2012 @ 2 pm FGH 308 Final location and time will be decided at the first meeting.

In this intensive, hands-on course, we will explore the use of and interaction with medical imaging data in immersive virtual environments. In this course, students will design, implement and evaluate an immersive experience for interacting with medical imaging data. 2. EECE 395 Readings in Vanderbilt Intuitive in Surgery and Engineering (1 unit)

Time/location: Introductory meeting January 11, 2012 @ 3 pm FGH 308 Final location and time will be decided at the first meeting.

This seminar class will introduce graduate students from different disciplines to the key research questions facing integration of surgery and engineering research. We will cover seminar and representative readings suggested by Vanderbilt Initiative in Surgery and Engineering (ViSE) investigators with a goal of improving mutual understanding and building interdisciplinary connections.
