Speaker Bios:
Dr. Smita De is currently the VISE fellow and a clinical instructor in Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt University. She was accepted to the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Washington during which she received her M.D. and Ph.D. in Bioengineering as well as a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award. She subsequently completed a residency in Urology at Stanford University and spent a year with the R&D department at Intuitive Surgical, Inc. Her research focuses on the development and improvement of surgical devices and technologies for Urologists.
Dr. Ryan Hsi (pronounced SEE) graduated from Loma Linda University Medical School and completed urology residency at the University of Washington. He completed his fellowship in laparoscopy and endourology at UC San Francisco. He has been on faculty here with the Department of Urologic Surgery since August 2016 as an Assistant Professor. His clinical practice covers benign and malignant upper urinary tract disease with a focus on complex kidney stone prevention and surgical treatment.
