His work focuses on the host-pathogen battle for essential metals like iron and zinc, offering new insights into how we might better treat bacterial infections. This prestigious recognition highlights the significant contributions Skaar and his team have made to the field of nutritional immunity. Skaar’s 2023 Nature paper featured nanoscale elemental maps collected using VINSE’s Tecnai Osiris Analytical TEM/STEM and cryo-electron tomography samples prepared using VINSE’s Helios cryo-FIB-SEM.
