Fourteen Central Magnet School Students Join Forensics Lab October 25th

On Friday, October 25th, VINSE welcomed 14 students from Central Magnet School to our Forensics Lab. Their task was to gather evidence of the “murderer” using the different tools in the lab before the day’s end! Using several types of spectroscopies including Raman, FTIR, absorption and photoluminescence, clues were revealed. They also extracted chlorophyll from spinach, analyzed perfumes and took spectra on different jewelry.
Special thanks to our NanoGuides Chis Boyd, William Lowery, Owen Meilander and Swarnim Neema for their invaluable assistance. They helped students tackle forensic puzzles and fundamental scientific inquiries and made this event engaging!
