VINSE Invites Community to Celebrate National Nanotechnology Day

The Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE) is thrilled to announce its annual celebration of National Nanotechnology Day on October 9. Held in recognition of the significance of the nanometer scale—10-9 meters—National Nanotechnology Day serves as a reminder of the innovative advances made in this field.

VINSE will host an afternoon filled with interactive experiences, including guided window tours of its state-of-the-art cleanroom, where cutting-edge research takes place.“We’re excited to showcase the groundbreaking work happening in nanotechnology right here at Vanderbilt,” said Dr. Ben Schmidt, VINSE Cleanroom Manager. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to engage with scientists, learn about nanotechnology applications, and see how this field enriches our daily lives—from medicine to electronics and beyond.” In addition to window cleanroom tours, attendees will enjoy Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and have the chance to enter a raffle with prizes that include VINSE merchandise. The celebration will run from 1 PM to 3 PM at the VINSE facility in the Engineering Science Building lobby on the Vanderbilt University campus. Families, students, and anyone interested in learning more about nanotechnology are encouraged to stop by. “Whether you’re a science enthusiast or just curious about how nanotechnology affects your life, there’s something for everyone,” added Dr. Schmidt. “We look forward to welcoming our community and sharing the excitement of nanoscience.”
