Mona Ebrish named senior member of the IEEE

Vanderbilt engineering professor Mona Ebrish has been designated a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the highest professional grade of the IEEE.

Mona Ebrish

Prior to joining the Vanderbilt faculty in January 2023 as an assistant professor electrical and computer engineering, Ebrish was a postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C., investigating wide-bandgap semiconductors for high-voltage applications.

Ebrish’s research focuses on developing multiple techniques to fabricate and evaluate biological and chemical sensors that can be integrated with efficient power devices on foundry compatible chiplets, small integrated circuits with specialized functionality that make up larger integrated circuits. That work has resulted in more than a dozen patents. Her research also complements projects that are underway at the Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and the Institute for Space and Defense Electronics.

Ebrish is a Fulbright Scholar and a member of the Materials Research Society. She earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tripoli, Libya, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota. Previously, she was as an Advisory Research Scientist at IBM, where she worked on semiconductor technologies and non-volatile memory.
