“Contact Thermal Resistance between Silver Nanowires with Poly (vinylpyrrolidone) Interlayers” published in Nano Letters has been selected as a VINSE spotlight publication.

About the author:  Matthew is pursuing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering under the direction of Dr. Deyu Li and is studying the role of interfaces and their impact on the flow of heat through composite structures. In this most recent work, Matthew found that at the individual interface level, silver nanowires are able to more favorably couple to a polymer matrix than are stiffer phonon-dominant materials. This interesting observation indicates that silver nanowire based composites could achieve a higher effective thermal conductivity than some more traditional filler materials such as carbon nanotubes.
