“Mechanochemical Formation, Solution Rearrangements, and Catalytic Behavior of a Polymorphic Ca/K Allyl Complex” published in Chemistry – A European Journal has been selected as a VINSE Spotlight Publication
About the author: Ross Koby earned his Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University in Chemistry in May 2021 under the direction of Dr. Tim Hanusa. Ross studied the mechanochemical synthesis of main-group organometallics to better understand the intricacies of polar metal-carbon bonding and the role solvent plays. In recently published work, he used mechanochemistry to synthesize a calcium allyl which is uniquely sensitive to solvent, rapidly rearranging to a form that is a potent polymerization initiator. Ross is now a post-doctoral associate with Ian Tonks at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN.
