Vanderbilt Wins ITE TN Section Traffic Bowl!
The Institute of Transportation Engineers hosts a series of Traffic Bowl Competitions across the U.S.A. and Canada. These Traffic Bowl competitions are Jeopardy-like competitions where the transportation “answers” are provided on a Jeopardy display board by category, and contestants must then be the first team to buzz in using traffic signal displays. The team controlling the board then must supply the correct “question” to earn points.
An ITE Vanderbilt team comprised of CEE graduate students Erin Kersh and Kelsey Shannon and CEE junior Scott Guthrie travelled to Memphis on Tuesday to compete in the first ever, head-to-head ITE Tennessee Section competition against the Univ. of TN and the Univ. of Memphis student teams. After a close two rounds, the Vanderbilt Team was ultimately a large winner (i.e., #1 VU with 4500 points vs. #2 U.T. with 1399 points) by being the ONLY team to correctly answer the Final Jeopardy question.
The Vanderbilt team will now compete in the nine-state ITE Southern District Competition in Lafayette, LA in April against winning ITE traffic bowl teams from eight other southern states. The ultimate goal is to be one of the ten ITE District winners from across the U.S.A. and Canada so your team can then travel to St. Louis in August for the ITE International Traffic Bowl Competition.
Please join me in congratulating Erin, Kelsey and Scott for a job well done, and…..GO DORES!!!
