Our Work
For over a decade, drone delivery has been heralded as the next frontier of commercial transportation and logistics, without much success. But with new laws quietly opening the door for rapidly expanded drone delivery, we may soon see many more drones flying around making deliveries.
Regulating Drone Delivery considers the implications of this new technology, and offers policymakers tools to regulate it in the public interest. It proposes a comprehensive licensing system that empowers communities to decide whether they want drone delivery services in their area, and how to govern it, in collaboration with federal regulators. It pushes the conversation beyond a narrow framework of safety and risk to one about market structure and putting new technology in the service of real people, not just big tech and retail companies.
