My work in spectral denoising unites AI with the field of optics. By working closely with biomedical scientists and clinicians, we can effectively leverage machine learning to increase accuracy and speed of spectral processing. Closing this gap is important because domain experts are needed to understand the variation between collection processes, hardware differences, and processing conventions, while AI scientists are needed to create cutting-edge techniques that best suit the task at hand.
