Network and Data Science (NDS) Lab
Developing novel data science techniques and their applications for social good.
Director: Tyler Derr
The Network and Data Science (NDS) Lab advances research in data mining and machine learning, focusing on data-centric, responsible, and trustworthy AI, deep learning on graphs, and social network analysis, while collaborating on interdisciplinary applications for social good, including computer-aided drug discovery, education, neuroimaging, and political science. NDS students have received numerous accolades, including Vanderbilt’s C. F. Chen Best Paper Award (2022) and Runner-Up Award (2023), the Graduate Leadership Anchor Award for Research (2023), the Outstanding Doctoral Student Award (2024), 1st Place in Vanderbilt’s AI Showcase (2024), Finalist in the 3MT Competition (2023), the Nvidia Academic Hardware Grant (2022), and the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (2024). Their work has also earned the Best Paper Award at the New Frontiers in Graph Learning Workshop at NeurIPS (2023) and was recognized among the Top-10 Most Influential Papers by Paper Digest at CIKM (2022) and WWW (2023).
