Drew Scott, B.A.
Clinical Practicum Trainee
Pronouns: he/him/his
I believe that personal growth and transformation are inevitable consequences of any academic pursuit. But as you “dare to grow,” you might feel as though you’ve been thrown into a crucible, one that subjects you to trials, challenges, and pressures that can reopen old wounds or create new ones. While honoring your complexity as an individual, building on your strengths, and understanding that you’re the expert on your own experience, it’s my hope that we can enter into a relationship that illuminates a path forward.
I received my B.A. from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and am currently an M.Ed. candidate in Vanderbilt’s Human Development Counseling (HDC) program. Before my time at the UCC, I gained invaluable experience as a clinical intern in both private practice and school settings in Nashville. From those experiences, I unearthed a passion for helping young people work through an array of developmental, academic, and social/emotional challenges.
My primary goal is to cultivate an environment where you feel safe being your authentic self, respected as an equal, and empowered to take control of your own healing journey. I’m drawn to several modalities, including Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). However, we’ll talk about what feels right for your needs along the way. As a trainee, I’m privileged to be surrounded by experienced professionals here at the UCC who are dedicated to supporting you through me. I’m under the supervision of Kyle Shadrick, LCSW, and the faculty of Vanderbilt’s HDC program.
In my free time, I enjoy supporting the ‘Dores and the Dawgs at various collegiate sporting events, tirelessly working to improve my golf game, and going on runs as a form of self-care. Whether you’re new to counseling or have decided to revisit it, I hope we can chat soon!
