Biography

K.C. Potter, Vanderbilt dean emeritus of residential and judicial affairs, graduated from Vanderbilt Law School in 1964. In 1965 he was a law clerk for the Supreme Court of Tennessee then returned to Vanderbilt that same year and served the university until his retirement in 1998 in key administrative capacities, including assistant dean of men and associate dean in the Office of Student Life. While he was dean of residential and judicial affairs, Potter mediated many difficult situations as the campus moved through several transformative decades. In 2008, Euclid House on West Side Row, home of the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Life, was named in honor of Potter, who supported the LGBTQI community and helped to foster a more inclusive and affirming environment on campus.
