Varun Kaushal experience at the Wond’ry
Ambassador Spotlight
Hello Commodores!
I hope you all had a great thanksgiving break and are looking forward to the end of a work-filled semester. Thanksgiving is an interesting and awesome experience for me as an international student. For the past 2 years I have been celebrating it with my best friend’s family and have loved it. But I wanted to take the opportunity to tell everyone out there about the experiences that I have had at Vandy and at the Wond’ry that have helped me improve me personally and professionally multi-fold.
Being part of a very diverse student community at Owen has given me a different perspective to life. Understanding the different cultures and intricacies within them have made me a lot more aware and empathetic to people in general. The Wond’ry has helped me with that as well. Working here I have interacted with students from all the 10 schools at Vanderbilt. Diversity doesn’t just mean international/cultural diversity but also educational diversity! Every tour that I have given has allowed me to speak to someone with a different background and experience.
While the impact may initially seem small, the amount of information I have gathered over a period of 4 months has been massive. Learning about different companies that different students are targeting, doing up my own research on them has improved my general knowledge significantly. Attending the innovation events that are organized at the Wond’ry and speaking to the mentors has been an enlightening experience on its own, forcing me to think critically about issues ranging from innovation in music to improving standard of living in Africa.
All of these experiences are experiences I am extremely thankful for. I hope all of you can be part of the opportunities that the Wond’ry has to offer and share the same excitement and thankfulness as I do because I truly believe that experiences here are invaluable to each of our careers! But you have to see it to believe it. And I do hope to see you here!
Have a great week!
