Putting the Pieces Together
There are so many moving pieces behind the scenes of every creative project that go unappreciated. There are a multitude of critical decisions that occur on the road to creating a creative work that are not readily apparent in seeing the end product.
I am currently in the midst of directing a video project for the Wond’ry and Vanderbilt. The hope is that this video spot can eventually be a part of the university’s larger promotional efforts and send a strong message to people that engage with the video spot about the culture and values of the university and the opportunities that the Wond’ry provides. This experience has given me much greater appreciation for the work that producers do in organizing creative projects in helping put difficult pieces together to help execute the vision of the director.
We are shooting at fifteen different locations and showcasing three outstanding individuals from across campus in the spot. The logistics of this video have been difficult to put together but the Wond’ry staff and people from across the university are helping put the many pieces that we need to come together for this project to work. We have made remarkable progress since our first meeting many weeks ago and are looking forward to beginning our shoot next week.
We will see where it goes from there.
