What is one burning question you hope to have answered during this course? What is one hypothesis you will focus on in your initial interviews?

    Questions:

    – I can think of variety of clients that would have a use for the proposed software (e.g. academics, market research companies, politicians). What client group should I focus on to start with?

    – Given greater clarity on the business model: how does one go about building a team?

    Hypotheses:

H1: Closed-ended survey questions are useful but limiting in that they:
    (a) curtail choices to those defined by the researcher.
    (b) assume a common lexicon.

H2: Open-ended questions would be more widely used if they were more easily:
    (a) implemented (did not require respondents writing or transcription).
    (b) analyzed (quantify patterns).

    Question:
    1. similar to Pedros: Currently I am solo on this project, what are your suggestions on finding a team (and when/for what types of jobs do you think a team is necessary or not necessary?)

    Hypothesis:
    1. Eco conscious customers have less than 10 minutes that they are willing to spend on researching carbon offsets to buy.
    2. Eco conscious customers have less than fifteen dollars per month they are willing to spend on carbon offsets.

Burning Question: How do we build our client base, how do we create something that will people will buy and invest in that does justice to our vision?

    Hypotheses:
Workspaces are in dire need of the facilitation of critical action around community and culture specifically as it pertains to diversity and inclusion efforts.

Current diversity and inclusion efforts are not working because of a lack of cultural understanding of the workplaces they are trying to diversify or the lack of understanding of authentic, justice-oriented inclusion efforts.

    Question:
    1. How do I build a functional prototype of my idea, and where do I then go to have that prototype manufactured?

    Hypotheses:
    1. The hassle associated with cleaning reusable straws is significant enough to dissuade people from purchasing traditional reusable straws.
    2. If the inside of a reusable straw can be cleaned by hand or by placing the straw in a dishwasher, people will be more likely to buy the straw.

    Question:
Is my idea worthwhile? Is it feasible?

    Hypothesis:
It probably is worthwhile – or at least I would hope. I think feasibility will be much more of a challenge as the entire goal will be acquiring data – a thing only insurance carriers (our customers) have.
