Billy Whalen formerly led Corporate Development at Anthemis and worked closely with our group leadership and portfolio companies. He identified and evaluated organic and inorganic growth opportunities and advised on operational and financial performance. He also contributed to group strategic planning and was a member of the Operating Committee.

Billy joins us in New York from the London office, where he led market identification, analysis, and development of early stage businesses within the investment team. He joined Anthemis after supporting the formation of MEST Venture Partners, a venture fund based in Accra, Ghana.

Prior to business school, Billy was an Associate on BlackRock’s Due Diligence and Manager Research team in New York, responsible for analyzing a wide range of traditional and alternative investment strategies, building relationships with the largest investment advisory firms and performing due diligence.

He began his career living out his childhood dream of competing as a professional golfer. Billy has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.
