The Wond’ry was awarded a LEED Gold Certification for sustainable design by the U.S. Green Building council. During the construction of the building, almost all of the waste generated was diverted from landfills to be recycled. The trees originally located in the building’s footprint were used to construct parts of the interior wooden facade of the building. On the exterior facade, the multitude of windows optimizes daylighting in order to reduce the amount of electricity consumed by traditional lighting. The roof of the Wond’ry boasts a living terrace that provides benefits to the building by insulating during the summer and reducting of rainwater runoff during storms. For stormwater management, 90% of average annual rainfall on the building is captured and treated using a water quality vault and Bioretention practices. This vault reduces the potable water consumption of the irrigation by 55%. Come by this fall and see the new LEED Certification display that highlights all of the green building features at the Wond’ry.
