Isn’t it just for engineers?

Posted by on Monday, March 13, 2017 in Blog.

In case you haven’t picked up on it yet, my blog posts will be a series of answers to the most common questions I have fielded since I started working at the Wond’ry in June. This week, I’m debunking our biggest myth: we are NOT just a resource for engineers!

Though our building connects to the new Engineering Science Building and Olin Hall, we are a resource for all disciplines that exist on campus. Our space and programming serves all ten schools, ungraduated and graduate students, faculty, and staff. You would be hard pressed to find another resource on campus that serves that broad of a reach free of charge.

One of my favorite constituents that we serve is our artists. We have hosted a number of artists-in-residence thus far on a variety of projects ranging from our whiteboard mural competition, a giant motion-sense LED wall (see our Instagram @thewondry), and a collaboration of a composition student and a Nashville dance company. We are always looking for more artists to get involved with our programming or to pursue their own projects here.

The Wond’ry is not just a place for engineers to experiment, it’s a place to express any ounce of creativity you have, however that takes shape!
