Ambassador Spotlight

Last week at the Wond’ry, we were excited to host mentors in residence and co-founders of RootNote, Jason and Jeremy Burchard for a workshop on Music Entrepreneurship. Check out their bios on the Wond’ry website for more information and their office hours! This workshop was based on what the brothers do with working musicians and industry professionals throughout Nashville. The pair began with a brief overview of the current status of the music industry and some of the most important roles in an artist’s career. From there, the workshop transformed into a collaborative strategy session. Volunteers from those attending used their real-life scenarios, all musicians at different points in their careers with different goals. “Positions” were assigned to other participants as core members of this artist’s team (manager, business manager, marketing etc.) Students interested in pursuing other areas of the music industry were able to connect-the-dots on how they can understand and learn more about those careers. Everyone came out of the workshop with a realistic strategy to tackle their own goals with specific action items and milestones.

This event is just one of the many initiatives I have been working on this semester. As a Student Ambassador at the Wond’ry, I have a goal to fulfill the Wond’ry mission to be catalyst for the building and strengthening of creativity across campus by fostering and promoting a greater representation of Blair students and faculty. This workshop is a perfect example of the way cross disciplinary collaboration is truly the best path to innovative success.
