James DiGiorgio is the President of Applied Knowledge, LLC, a consulting firm which focuses on bringing innovation and optimization to the healthcare industry. Whether in the realm of management, operations, finance, or clinical practice, Applied Knowledge helps companies improve clinical, operational, and financial performance with new ideas and the latest technology. As a mentor, James brings a unique perspective and experience to the Wond’ry as an advisor on healthcare start-up companies.

Prior to leading Applied Knowledge, James was Vice President of Operations at Team Health, a company providing solutions to hospitals and health systems.

Q. What excited you most about the Wond’ry?

A. Access to multiple start-up companies bringing new ideas to healthcare and the opportunity to help them succeed.

Q. What do you feel are the most important skills you have to offer in role as a mentor?

A. Over 30 years healthcare industry experience provides me in-depth understanding of the healthcare marketplace. Almost a decade of working closely with and advising new start-up companies, and helping them gain access to prospective customers that can use their innovations to improve healthcare.

Q. What has been your proudest moment in your career?

A. Each time I am able to bring together an innovative start-up company and end-user organizations and help them create a business relationship are the proudest ‘moments’.

Q. What has surprised you most about your job?

A. The lack of curiosity among many healthcare executives.

Q. If you could do everything over again, would you make the same career choices?

A. Yes!

Q. In your opinion, what is the most important quality for success?

A. Preparation, patience, persistence, perseverance.

Q. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A. An engineer that solves problems.
