First Generation Investors (FGI)
The mission of FGI is to dramatically increase the number of “First Generation Investors” — young people who will benefit from the ownership of financial assets — in order to ultimately work toward decreasing income inequality and closing the substantial wealth gap present in our society. The organization brings classroom lessons to life by providing students with actual money to invest, thus enabling our financial education to be truly “hands-on” learning. OVEC extends a warm welcome to prospective funders and founders, as well as individuals imbued with an entrepreneurial spirit. The club's primary objective is to provide students with comprehensive exposure to the realm of entrepreneurship, encompassing aspects like fundraising. OVEC offers its support not only to those initiating their own enterprises, desiring roles within startups, or aspiring to become future venture capitalists, but also to those intrigued by exploring the entrepreneurial mindset even within sizable corporations. In collaboration with the Center for Entrepreneurship, OVEC facilitates the development of connections between students and the Nashville community, presenting networking opportunities with both founders and venture capitalists within the locality.
