What is LEED?

According to the U.S. Green Building Council, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (or LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for design construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.

What this means is the LEED program gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on sustainability. The impact affects five key areas of human and environmental health:

♦  sustainable site development

♦  water savings

♦  energy efficiency

♦  materials selection

♦  the quality of the indoor environment
