Volunteers Make Move-In and Game Day Challenge Recycling Successful
VU Collects 1.26 Tons of Recycling at EPA Game Day Recycling Challenge
18 volunteers, including members of SPEAR and Deputy Dores, assisted with the EPA Game Day Recycling Challenge after the October 19 game against Georgia to collect recycling within the stadium seating area. These volunteers collected 2,507 pounds, or 1.26 tons of recycling (cardboard, paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic) in just 2 hours – amazing! A big thank you to all who helped!
Record Results at 2013 Move-In Cardboard Recycling
The cardboard recycling results from Move-In 2013 are in! This year 35.38 tons of cardboard were recycled, which represents an 8.33% increase over last year and a 425.71% increase since 2007! Collection of cardboard at Move-In over the past seven years has resulted nearly one-quarter of a million pounds of cardboard recycled, which has saved over 29,000 cubic feet of landfill space! Great job to all those who were involved in this accomplishment, including SPEAR and Cardboard Crew volunteers!
