Flood Relief Swap
[Originally published on Vanderbilt University’s 2010 Nashville Flood Information website]
Many in the Vanderbilt and greater Nashville family have been adversely affected by the flood and are in need of resource items immediately. We will be hosting a flood relief swap on Thursday, May 6, and Friday, May 7, to help.
The event is for employees only May 6 and will be open to the public May 7.
Please consider donating some of your gently used items so that individuals impacted by the flood can make good use of them. If you are in need of clothes, blankets, food, and more during this trying time, please join us and take whatever you need.
Acceptable Donation Items:
- Gently used, clean adult and child clothing
- Linens (including sheets, towels, blankets, and sleeping bags)
- Toiletries
- Canned/boxed food goods, bottled water
- Small toys
- Cleaning supplies (including trash bags, sponges, buckets and cleansers)
Where: Student Life Center – Ballroom C
When: Thursday, May 6 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday, May 7 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Parking: Drop-off and loading of items will take place in the Student Life Center turnaround. Metered spaces will be available for short-term parking for Swap Participants only on Garland Avenue.
Students are welcome to bring donations as well. Leftover items from the swap will be donated to charitable organizations in Nashville who will distribute to the wider community.
We will also need some volunteers to help at the swap both days between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and from 3 – 5 p.m. If you’d like to volunteer, please come to the Student Life Center Ballroom and lend us a hand.
For information about the swap, call E-ARTH (343-2784).
