It’s hard for me to imagine, but many people come to the VUICC with little to no family support. They often arrive in Nashville from other parts of the Southeast alone, they’ve left their homes and jobs because VUICC is the best place for them to receive care. Depending on their treatment, many of them would not be able to work if they wanted to as many of the treatments have severe side effects. The Caring Hearts Fund was established to help these people pay utility bills, housing, and to meet basic needs.
