A New Campus Resource

Posted by on Thursday, August 11, 2016 in News Blurbs.

The Center for Student Wellbeing is a new campus resource dedicated to helping students cultivate lifelong wellbeing practices. The staff, which includes Student Wellbeing Coordinators and an Academic Skills Coach, is available for individual coaching appointments to help students develop and maintain skills that will contribute to personal and academic success. Students are also able to use the meditation room for yoga, meditation, and mindfulness classes, or for self-guided practice. Workshops are available on a variety of topics, including resiliency, time management, alcohol and other drug education, and healthy living. Vanderbilt Recovery Support, which provides support services for students who are recovering from substance use issues, is also housed at the Center.

The Center will work collaboratively with the Psychological and Counseling Center and the Student Health Center to provide an integrated system of care for our students that promotes health and wellbeing, minimizes the impact of distress, and manages ongoing concerns. Conveniently located in the Residence 7 building at 1211 Stevenson Center Lane across from the Student Health Center, the Center’s staff can be reached at (615) 322-0480 or healthydores@vanderbilt.edu.

Please check your publications, website information, template letters, and other resources and change any references to the old Office of Wellness Programs & Alcohol Education to the Center for Student Wellbeing.

Please also mark your calendars to attend the Center’s Grand Opening on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Chancellor Zeppos and Provost Wente will offer remarks and light refreshments will be served.

Feel free to contact Rachel Eskridge with any questions about the Center at rachel.eskridge@vanderbilt.eduor visit the website at www.vanderbilt.edu/healthydores for more information.
