Both the students and community partner enjoyed their experience and are excited to return!

Global Seminar: On Thursday, February 25th, the OACS Global Programs hosted Associate Professor of Political Science Jonathan Hiskey. Dr. Hiskey engaged approximately 40 students in a discussion on the challenges and ethics of global development. Utilizing scholarship from such scholars as Nancy Birdsall and Paul Streeter, students discussed the failings of global development and ways they can best work alongside NGOs in Ecuador, London, Morocco, and South Africa.

House Service Commissioners: Meagan Smith, OACS Program Coordinator, facilitated a conversation about Vanderbilt students’ voter engagement with members of the CommonDores Leadership Council on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Nine House Commissioners discussed reasons why their peers do or don’t vote, and strategies for inspiring greater voter turnout. Meagan shared about how to register to vote, voter ID laws in Tennessee, the election calendar, and where to find information about candidates and issues.
