Performance Evaluations

A reminder that supervisors should begin conducting performance evaluations with the goal to have all completed by May 15.

The performance evaluation website has all the resources you’ll need to complete your evaluations:

If you have technical questions about the performance evaluation process, please contact the Employee Service Center at 343.7000 or human.resources@vanderbilt.edu. For questions about coaching or providing performance feedback, please contact Pat Helland or Alan Napier.

Finally, the evaluation process is important for supervisors and staff. All staff are encouraged to utilize the performance evaluation website to learn more.

Successful Performance Evaluations

Do

– Problem Solve

– Focus on the entire year

– Be specific

– Integrate with the mission and goals of the team and Vanderbilt

– Ask for their opinions, suggestions, accomplishments, goals and needs.


Don’t

– Blame

– Select only recent activities

– Generalize

– Focus on actions, goals and objectives that don’t connect to team and organizational goals

– Do all the talking
