Beginning Saturday, March 16th, in collaboration with the Office of Arts & Creative Engagement (ACE), the Sarratt Connector hallway will host a unique sculpture exhibit as part of a Vanderbilt Curb Creative Campus Innovation Grant project. Led by visual artist and writer Lori Anne Parker-Danley, the Identity Sculptures Project is a public art collaboration that examines the relationship between writing and art and the ways language and storytelling shape (and are shaped by) our bodies and identities. The exhibition consists of 11 sculptures and sculptural assemblages created by Parker-Danley in response to the poetic, fictional, and autobiographical writings of Vanderbilt faculty, students, and staff on the topic of “creative identities. The identity sculptures will be on display from March 16 – June 15, 2013.

Monday, March 18th from 4:30-6:30pm in 3rd Floor Sarratt Connector hallway, meet Nashville Artist and Writer Lori Anne Parker-Danley as she talks about her new Sarratt Center art installation of the Identities Sculptures (a Vanderbilt Curb Creative Campus Innovation Grant project). Light refreshments will be provided

Monday, March 25th at 8pm on Alumni Lawn: “EVERY/THING IS ILLUM/NATED” – Come immerse yourself in a one-of-a-kind, in-the-moment, public art installation. This brief installation captures the ephemeral nature of street art in its delightful spontaneity, and creative suspension of space and time. It will challenge your perception of the ordinary versus the extraordinary. Find yourself in a moment of meditative serenity, playfulness, joy, and wonder. Take part in the art. Experience a world of magical realism on Vanderbilt’s campus. This event is the kickoff for the Annual Spring Showcase hosted by the Creative Campus Residential Fellows (CCRF) and The McGill Project (For more info, see next item). Sponsored by VSG, VPB, DOS, ACE, OACS, and AcFee. Rain Date: Thursday, March 28th at 8pm on Alumni Lawn.
