Huili Hong (she, her, hers) is a professor of the practice in teaching and learning. Her research interests include literacy studies focusing on children’s language and literacy processes, multilingual learner education, and teacher preparation. Her teaching, service, and scholarly endeavors emphasize languages and literacies as tools for students’ equitable learning, free expression, imagination, and engagement with the world in critical, constructive, caring, and enjoyable ways. Professor Hong joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2022, and has been faculty head of West House since 2024. She looks forward to creating a vibrant and inclusive community in West House. She aims to foster students' sense of belonging and connections and build an intercultural and intellectual community.
