Andy Finch (Ph.D. ’03, M.Ed. ’95) is a professor of the practice in human and organizational development and a core faculty member in human development counseling. Professor Finch (he, him, his) teaches courses in human development, substance use and addiction, and career counseling. His current research focuses on the role of schools as recovery supports for substance use disorders, with an emphasis on recovery high schools. Professor Finch grew up in Kansas City and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. He worked as a sports announcer before moving to Nashville for graduate school. He and his wife, Deb, met as Vanderbilt students, and they have two adult children, Michael and David.
Professor Finch joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2004 and has been faculty head of North House since 2024.
