Olga Tweedy

Associate Director, Research Development

Olga joined the Research Development and Support team in May 2023, where she supports faculty in coordinating funding opportunities, strategic development of sponsor relationships, and diversification of funding portfolios. Before joining the RDS team, Olga worked at the Department of Energy’s Office of Science through the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship. While at DOE, she collaborated with program managers to coordinate Funding Opportunity Announcements reviews, served on the interagency working groups to strengthen collaborations among federal agencies,  and led a major effort to design an investment strategy for scientific research involving the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to the science of predictability and prediction. She also brings scientific computing, writing, and research experience from her time at NASA and Johns Hopkins University.

 

Olga received her B.S. in Marine Sciences from Coastal Carolina University and her Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Johns Hopkins University. After completing her Ph.D., she obtained a NASA-funded postdoctoral program fellowship in the Department of Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. She was also awarded with AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship in the federal government’s Executive Branch.
