Remembering 9/11
Friday, September 11th marks the 14th anniversary of one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. In remembrance of this tragic day, the Office of the University Chaplain and Religious Life will hold a small prayer and reflection service in Benton Chapel from 12 noon to 1pm on Friday, September 11th. Our University Chaplain Rev. Mark Forrester, as well as our Associate University Chaplain Rev. Gretchen Person, will be present to offer a short opening prayer and then be present for the remainder of the hour for silent reflection and remembrance.
In addition, starting at noon, the chimes of Kirkland Hall will chime four times with moments of silence in-between, instead of the usual 12 tolls for the time, to symbolize the four planes that were taken over on that morning. Please take a moment, with us in the chapel or wherever you may be on campus, to pause and reflect on the significance and memory of that day.
As always, the Office of the University Chaplain and Religious Life is available for any student, staff, or faculty to come in for a welcome space to relax, and also a confidential space on campus for anyone who desires someone to speak with.
