The 5.5 mile stretch of the Hiwassee is a fantastic introduction to WW Canoeing and offers a number of Class I – II+ rapids to test your paddling prowess. Participants must be able to swim and canoeing experience is not required. Estimated trip duration: 6 am – 10 pm. Canoeing Piney River, TN Cancelled Date: Sunday, Sept. 24 Cost: $40/$44 Registration Deadline: Friday, Sept. 15 Pre-Trip Meeting: Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 6:00 PM at the ORC The Piney River is only a little over an hour away, west of Nashville. We will paddle a scenic 6.6 mile section of the Class I river. This is a great trip for beginner paddlers. Highlights include scenic bluffs and rock walls. Estimated trip duration: 8 AM – 6 PM. This will be a 5-mile canoe trip, except the emphasis will be on picking up the trash from the Harpeth River. Equipment, transportation, clean-up supplies, and lunch are provided. Beginners are welcome. Estimated trip duration: 8 am – 5 pm. Canoe-Camping - 2 Spots Left Green River, Mammoth Cave NP, KY Date: Fall Break 2017: Thursday – Sunday, Oct. 12 - 15 Cost: $153/$168 Registration Deadline: Two spots available - sign up ASAP or before midnight, Sunday, Oct. 8. Pre-Trip Meeting: Thursday, Oct. 5 at 5:00 pm at the ORC Although this National Park is known for its caves, it actually has a great river for canoe-camping. The Green River is a fairly deep river with beautiful tree covered hills surrounding it. We plan on going on a cave tour and car camping, before beginning an 18.5 mile, 3-day, 2- night canoe-camping trip. Highlights will include the fall colors and checking out a few small caves along the way. We also plan to camp on islands each night. Beginners are welcome.
