National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships
- The Department of Defense (DoD) is committed to increasing the number and quality of our nation's scientists and engineers. Toward that end, the DoD annually supports approximately 8,000 graduate students in fields important to national defense needs.
- Funded areas of research include cognitive, neural, and behavioral sciences.

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
- Candidates who have not yet begun graduate studies encouraged to apply, though full consideration given to candidates in first or second year of graduate work.
- Must be “New American,” defined as a 1) resident alien, 2) naturalized citizen, or 3) child of two parents, both naturalized citizens.
- Intended to support individuals who regard U.S.A. as principal residence and focus of identity.
- Must not be older than thirty.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
- Applicants must have completed no more than 12 months of graduate study at time of application. Graduate students in their first year and in their first semester of their second year can apply.

Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) For Individual Predoctoral Fellows from NIH (F32)
- Although officially applicants must be doctoral candidates who have successfully completed their comprehensive examinations or the equivalent by the time of award and will be performing dissertation research and training, students may be eligible earlier in their programs.

NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI)
- provides U.S. graduate students in science and engineering:
- first-hand research experiences in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore or Taiwan
- an introduction to the science, science policy, and scientific infrastructure of the respective location
- an orientation to the society, culture and language.
- The primary goals of EAPSI are to introduce students to East Asia and Pacific science and engineering in the context of a research setting, and to help students initiate scientific relationships that will better enable future collaboration with foreign counterparts. All institutes, except Japan, last approximately eight weeks from June to August. Japan lasts approximately ten weeks from June to August (specific dates are available and updated at www.nsf.gov/eapsi).

Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation: Dissertation Grants in Women's Studies
- Encourages original and significant research on issues related to women's health, especially in the implications of research for the understanding of women's lives and its significance for public policy or treatment.
- Must be doctoral candidate in U.S. University and completed all degree requirements except for dissertation.

The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program
- Designed to encourage U.S. citizens to pursue advanced study in science and engineering fields pertinent to national defense.

- For graduate students who have not completed their first year of study
- Eligibility limited to United States citizens or nationals, permanent residents of the U.S., or citizens of any one of the Freely Associated States.
- Recognizes students with s uperior academic ability and achievement, exceptional promise, and financial need.

Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Doctoral Awards
- For students applying to, or registered in, a doctoral program or a combined MA/PhD program in the social sciences or humanities. There are restrictions on these grants that may make it difficult to obtain them for study in a U.S. university.
- Must be a citizen or permanent residents of Canada. There are also other programs available for Canadian citizens; check with Canadian sources.

Vanderbilt Graduate School Dissertation Enhancement Grants
- These grants are intended to enhance already outstanding dissertation projects by permitting the addition of a new dimension, additional breadth, or other worthwhile extensions.

Vanderbilt Graduate School Travel Grants
- Student must be the sole presenter of research conducted at Vanderbilt.
- Meeting must be a major regional, national, or international conference.
- Grants are limited - up to $500 for domestic travel and up to $1000 for foreign travel.
- Grants are limited to a maximum of one award per budget year (July 1-June 30) for domestic travel or one award per two years for foreign travel. Student may apply for only one travel grant per year.
- Meals are not an allowable expense for this grant.
- The application must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies.

Vanderbilt Graduate Student Council Travel Grants
- GSC travel grants are intended to aid students in covering travel expenses related to attending academic conferences, symposia, workshops, etc. Grants are only available to students who will be presenting personal research.
- All travel grants must be approved by the GSC travel grant committee prior to the conference.
- GSC travel grants will not exceed $250 per grant. Funds are limited so apply early.
- The GSC travel grant selection committee will be drawing one name on the 15th of each month. This student will receive the grant, and an email will be sent giving other applicants the opportunity to continue to be considered for the next month's drawing.
- There are only 4 grants available, so it is in your best interest to complete your application well in advance for your name to be present in as many drawings as possible.

The Lisa M. Quesenberry Award
- The Community Foundation of Louisville accepts applications for the Lisa M. Quesenberry Foundation Fund. Lisa was a graduate student in psychology in the early 90's who died of juvenile diabetes. Her family, in her memory, set up a fund which awards a female student up to $1,500 in a grant. This student must be studying psychology and must have overcome significant personal challenges to pursue their education.

- Applicants must be enrolled full-time and be in good standing in a graduate program in psychology at a regionally accredited university or college located in the United States or Canada.
- Must be student affiliates or associate members of the American Psychological Association.

- Applicants must be in an interim master's program or doctoral program.
- Nominated by graduate departments that are members of COGDOP( Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology).

- Enrolled full-time with minimum ABD status.
- US or Canadian citizens.
- Should have a “good command” of German.
