Quality Enhancement Plan
Vanderbilt's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a critical part of our reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), a process which occurs once every ten years. On May 12, 2016, Provost Susan R. Wente announced the selection of Design as an Immersive Vanderbilt Experience -- otherwise known as DIVE -- as Vanderbilt's new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
The QEP constitutes a new and focused effort to enhance the student learning experience. Per guidelines, the QEP is derived from the campus strategic planning processes. Therefore, Design as an Immersive Vanderbilt Experience (DIVE) is part of the Immersion Vanderbilt initiative, a key component of our Academic Strategic plan. Vanderbilt will develop and implement the QEP in compliance with the QEP plan guidelines.
To summarize, the plan:
1) includes a process identifying key issues emerging from institutional assessment,
2) focuses on student learning outcomes and/or the environment supporting student learning,
3) includes broad-based involvement of institutional constituencies in the development and proposed implementation of the QEP, and
4) identifies goals and a plan to assess their achievement.
Vanderbilt's QEP in the 2007 reaffirmation was Vanderbilt Visions: A Bridge to The Commons.
The QEP focuses on the future and must be completed in five years. The On-Site Committee will evaluate the new QEP in the spring 2017.
