Vanderbilt Strong Faculty Grant Program

The Vanderbilt Strong Faculty Grant Program was launched to support faculty's work to further our missions of discovery and learning in the face of the current pandemic. The program will help faculty continue to make progress in their teaching, research, scholarship and creative expression during the constraints on activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Note: the application window for this program closes on April 1, 2021.

TEACHING

Vanderbilt Strong is designed to facilitate more in-person experiences for our students. * The university recognizes the extra efforts needed to conduct in-person classes with remote students, as well as with hybrid classes that are taught both in-person and remote.

*For courses that are required to be fully online (either due to their enrollment size or approved faculty accommodations) please check with your schools/colleges and/or departments to see what resources they have in place to help with the additional effort required to teach in these new ways.

RESEARCH

The Vanderbilt Strong Faculty Grant Program will also support continuance of faculty projects that have been delayed, paused, or fallen behind due to the pandemic. The launch of new research initiatives will not be supported by this program.

FUNDING TRACKS

The Vanderbilt Strong Faculty Grant Program grants may range in size and purpose. Two general tracks are available.

  • Rapid Cycle grants are $2000 or less, fill an immediate teaching or research/scholarship/creative expression need and would be used within a semester (or in planning for such).
  • Gap grants are for larger requests and are designed to address disproportional impacts on the faculty due to their specific roles, activities and even personal obligations during COVID-operations.

Either funding track may be used to support teaching or research (including scholarship and creative expression).
